Kids Parties

Dance parties are where my music and organizing practices combine. This is a photo of cumbia kids 2017, a party I organized at New Center Park that took place during the Allied Media Conference. Over 500 kids and adults came to the event making it one of the largest family event New Center Park has ever had. I brought together the Radical Childcare Collective, organizers of Cumbia Poder, and food truck owners to develop the programing for the event. We curated face-painting and costume making stations, bubble making stations, and a breastfeeding tent for new mothers.

Hosted a series of kids parties through out Detroit after the initial one at the AMC. It was so inspiring to see kids from all over the city come together to dance. After a decade Djing in clubs it was a breath of fresh air to be able to hold space for families and new mothers/ fathers to party. The kids party is now an AMC at night tradition and through out Detroit kids parties have popped up since our first in 2016.
